Let’s use the word “training” loosely, shall we?
You may have noticed that I’ve been MIA. I spent all of last week in the Dominican Republic on vacation with Brian, his sister & her boyfriend. It was an AMAZING vacation and to be honest, I have the post-vacation blues bad. I need to start planning another trip stat! I feel like every time I go out of the country it gives me an itch to do more. I only wish I had more vacation days….
The past couple of weeks have been ok with training. That’s not true – the week before vacation was great! I had a couple of short runs, a couple of days of cross training, and a follow up biomechanics appointment. I capped off the week with a 12 mile run on my favorite trail. We left for vacation early the next morning!
I brought my running stuff with me, but made a decision before I left to not get too worked up over staying in training while on vacation. Hotlanta is not a goal race for me, and the rigors of marathon training will not allow me to take a breather like this. I decided to run if I felt like it…and if not, that was okay. I got two runs in while I was there – they were sooooo hot and sweaty, but I was glad to get them in. I was zapped when we got back – what is it about a relaxing vacation that leaves you more tired sometimes? I skipped my long run last weekend and am working on getting back into things this week.
Instead of bore you with more words, I’ll just leave you with some photos from the last couple of weeks!
What vacations have you been on recently or have planned this summer? Ever been to Punta Cana?
