Earlier this month, New Balance launched their newest shoe, the Fresh Foam 980. As part of the launch, the company hosted parties in a few cities around the country for runners to try out the shoes. Atlanta’s was postponed due to our crazy, icy, weather–so we had ours this past Thursday. It was a ton of fun!
New Balance brought trial shoes for everyone, as well as t-shirts, beer, and of course, DJ Fresh Foam. All the run groups that meet at Big Peach showed up for the event, it was a pretty big party!
Here is the group before our run.
We did an easy 3 mile run in the shoes, and within the first minute I was in love. The shoes are cushy but still responsive, and they fit so well! I really felt like they supported me so much. They have the same heel-drop as my current shoes (4MM) so I felt that it wasn’t a huge change for my stride However, the past few weeks I’ve been achy after long runs, and I felt that these provided enough cushion that I would likely feel better after long runs.
After the run, there was food and beer and music from the DJ. We hung out and I ended up buying a pair of the shoes. They are going to be my long run shoes!
Have you tried the Fresh Foam 980? What did you think?
