Another week of base building is in the books. I had a really long & stressful week at work, and it really impacted my training motivation. This was definitely a week of “just get it done” and I’m proud that I did. Here’s how this week went:
Monday – 5 Miles. This was a very relaxing run! I tried a new route and it worked better than the 5 mile route I did last week. It was a great way to kick off the week.
This is kind of random, but I’ve been doing a lot of purging and reorganizing. I ended up with some extra room in my closet, so I got these baskets that hook together for my closet, and made a running station in my closet! It makes me happy!
Tuesday – Strength Train. I did about 15 minutes on the bike, and then about 20 minutes of glute, hip, and core strength training.
Wednesday – 4 miles. Ok, so this was supposed to be a 5k test, but I totally messed it up. I went out wayyyyyyy too fast and ended up on the side of the road about to hurl. So I bagged the test and just tried to finish the run the best I could. I’ll try again next week and watch my pace a little more when I start.
Thursday – 35 minutes stationary bike. I’ve been catching up on Grey’s Anatomy and I really look forward to my cross training time to watch an episode, it makes the time fly by!!
Friday – 4 miles. It was pretty warm out, and my paced showed it. I tried to keep my heart rate down and enjoyed the run.
Saturday – 8 miles. Chrissy was in town and we did our long run together on the Silver Comet Trail. It was super warm out, so I was happy to go at Christina’s pace. It was a great time to catch up and a good start to our day!
We had a busy day afterwards – we picked up our numbers for the Peachtree Road Race and walked around the expo, checked out Urban Tree Cidery, got amazing burgers at the Vortex, did a little shopping, and then went and got foot massages. Who doesn’t love a girl’s weekend?
Sunday – Rest day. Woot!! Rest day!! Christina and I are going to take it easy and get ready for Peachtree tomorrow.

Only one more week of pre-marathon training, and then I officially start training for the Richmond Marathon! My coach sent over the first few weeks of my plan and comments on how the cycle will go. I’m a little intimidated by the mileage peak since it’s higher than I’ve run before, but I do think it’s do-able. I’m also really excited at the structure of each week – it really will work with my lifestyle. That’s one of the things I love about working with a coach – the plan is very customized to my life and what we know about my body. I’m excited to get started!
What are you doing this weekend? Anyone else running the Peachtree Road Race?
