Richmond Marathon Training – Race Week

As I’m writing this, it’s the night before my third marathon. I’m so excited! I still like to recap the race week, so here is how it went:

Monday: 3 miles at 10:52 pace. A great, easy run! I was working from home, so got to enjoy this run in the daylight! I got a 90 minute sports massage after work.

Tuesday: 1 mile warmup, 6x400m repeats, 1 mile cooldown. A great final workout! It was nice and cool in Atlanta so I actually got a do this on my lunch break, and I was a few seconds under my goal pace for these repeats.

Wednesday: 3 miles at 11:02 pace. I stayed up to watch the election coverage Tuesday night, so I slept in on Wednesday and did this run after work.  Despite being so tired, this run felt good. My coworkers got me some good luck cards to send me off!

Thursday: Rest day, travel day to Richmond. After I arrived, Christina and I walked to dinner and then went to the expo, and we slept like rocks that night.

Friday: Rest Day.  We’ve been taking the rest day very seriously, literally lounging and eating carbs all day, and getting ready for our big race!

This is it! Tomorrow is race day, and the weather is looking great! If you want to track me, I am bib 4545. I’ll be back Monday with a full race recap, but be sure to follow along on FacebookInstagram, or Twitter for updates before then. Good luck to everyone running Richmond!
