About a month ago, I asked my mom to make this tank for me specifically for the half marathon I ran this past weekend, so that I could raise awareness and honor Lou. As we were designing it, we realized that there are many other people who may want a similar shirt.
This shirt is awesome.
I’ve been wearing this tank for the past few weeks on training runs, and it performs GREAT. The material is thin and breathes wonderfully (it’s performance material) so I know it will do well for training in the Georgia heat this summer.
What I really like about this running for a cure shirt is the clear front message, with the customized back (which is sure to motivate whoever is behind you). A few weeks ago, I ran wearing my running for a cure tank on the local trail. I got many cheers and good jobs from the opposite direction. There was one gentleman out walking that saw the back of my shirt when I passed, and then when I did my turn-around he saw the front. When he saw me coming, he put his hands together into a prayer motion and did a silent bow to me. To say that I was moved would be an understatement. The motivation that comes from wearing this tank is hard to put into words. It’s more than just fundraising, it’s a constant reminder as to why I’m doing this.
My friend Angie, who ran the Savannah Women’s Half with me this weekend, also wore one in honor of her friend Kirsten who is currently battling stage IV cervical cancer. Wearing the shirt solo makes us feel motivated, but together…we felt strong and ran with purpose.
Running for a Cure shirts are custom-made to order.
The shirt comes in many sizes and shirt styles (both tees and tanks, for women and men). We are offering several variations for the front and back text. However, if you want something specific that you don’t see, let us know! You can click here to see the collection. These are 100% customized to you. There are plenty of color combos, sizes, and styles available. The front has a space under the text to put a race bib. And of course, the best part is that $15 from each shirt sold will go directly to my fundraising efforts with Fred’s Team, which supports cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Research Center.
