Stitch Fix #2 Review – October 2014

It’s time for another non-running post (more running stuff coming soon, I promise!)

After a successful first fix, I was super excited to get my second.  I requested the same stylist and requested jewel-tones, and boy, did Grace deliver! Here’s her note to me:

In case you don’t know what Stitch Fix is, here’s a summary: It’s a personal styling service for women.  You fill out a style profile (and can even link to a Pinterest board with specific images for your stylist), and then you get a box of 5 items of clothes in the mail picked out just for you!  You get a pre-paid, return envelope to return whatever you don’t want for free, and only pay for the things you want to keep.  The cost is $20 per fix, but if you keep anything, the price goes toward that item.  AND if you keep all 5 items, you get an additional discount of 25% on the entire fix!  When you set up your profile, you pick the price points you’re comfortable with.

1. 41Hawthorne Bell Chevron Textured Tie-Neck Blouse in Cobalt ($68) and

2. Margaret M Emer High Waisted Cropped Trouser in Black ($98)

I asked for jewel tones in this box, and boy, did Grace deliver! Cobalt is one of those colors that I think looks good on just about anyone, and I love how rich the color is.  The top has a slight chevron pattern to it which adds nice interest.  The fit was a little loose, but since this top is sleeveless I’d always need to wear it under a cardigan or blazer to the office, and I usually tuck tops in.  Styling it this way looked great on me!  Verdict: kept.

These pants….I wasn’t sure about when I first pulled them out.  They don’t have zipper/buttons at the waist (just elastic) and no pockets.  They basically look like leggings/running pants but in a thick dress pant material.  I also was hesitant about the price.  However, I tried them on and…..omg.  They fit me PERFECT. I have a hard time finding pants to fit me and I was so happy at how stupid comfortable these pants were.  They’ll be great to wear this winter with boots and sweaters, too.  Verdict: kept.

3. 41Hawthorne Dita Sleveeless Ponte Dress in Dark Pink ($68)

The color of this dress is amazing! This dress is a good example of something I probably wouldn’t have picked out for myself because I tend to go for more sheath dresses, and this has an a-line skirt.  The length is a tad long but it makes it very appropriate for work.  It’s sleeveless, but I can put a blazer or sweater over it, or even put a turtleneck under it with tights and boots.  The dress fit me like a glove and the detailing around the waist is so flattering.  I got a ton of compliments when I wore this to work.  Verdict: kept.

4. Bay to Baubles Lysander Gem Stone Statement Collar Necklace in White ($44)

In my first fix, I asked my stylist for necklaces with gemstones.  I like the shape of this necklace as I tend to gravitate more toward these statement necklaces.  I’m not sure about the white since it’s not something I’ll probably match a lot with in the fall, but I will be able to wear it a lot in summer I think.  Sadly, this necklace was broken when I received it (one of the gemstones fell out).  However, I emailed customer service and they sent me a brand new one very quickly.  I was super impressed with the service!  Verdict: kept.

5. THML Alycia Leather Shoulder Knit Zip Jacket in Navy ($78)

When I pulled this out of the box I squealed with delight.  I have a new obsession with both navy and leather detail, and this top fit both of those! In addition, I had pinned a similar top to my pinterest board, and Grace told me that she picked this one since it was like the jacket I had pinned.  How great is that?  The jacket was a perfect fit, even in the sleeves.  It’s a great fall piece! I’ve already worn it to work and got a ton of compliments (I wore it with my wine colored pants!)  Verdict: Kept

If you’re keeping track, you’ll notice that I kept all 5 pieces! That means I got 25% off, plus I had a $25 referral credit, so I saved close to $100 off the total.  I’m suppppper excited to get my next fix!

So, are you ready to get your fix?  Please use my referral link here to sign up, and I’ll get a credit toward my next box!!
