This past Sunday, I needed to complete a 6 mile long run for training. I missed my group run to attend the Good Form Running class, and I wanted to change it up a bit. So, I grabbed two of my coworkers and we headed to Midtown Atlanta to run through Peidmont Park. I absolutely love Piedmont Park because it’s very pedestrian friendly and the views of the Atlanta skyline are amazing. The park is also very hilly, so it is a great place to train.
My two coworkers are a slightly faster pace than me, so it was more of a challenging long run instead of a slow and steady run, but that’s OK. We did 6 miles in 1:03:59….about a 10:38/mile pace. I love running with other people, and one of my favorite parts of the run was that we didn’t map it out. We just said “right or left?!” every time we came to a fork, one of us would shout a direction, and we went!
Afterwards, I went and treated my feet to a pedicure, something I do once a month. I’ve never gone right after a run before and I have to say, it was AMAZING! The foot massage felt extra good!
Sunday night I spent some time doing food prep. I wanted to make sure Brian and I were set up for the week to eat healthy all week. This is especially important because I started classes again this week, which means I eat all meals out on Mondays and Tuesdays. By food prepping, I was able to bring all the meals and snacks with me!
We grilled up three different proteins – chicken, steak, and shrimp. We also sauteed up broccoli and I made roasted red potatoes which was really easy! I found the recipe off of Pinterest–you can find it here at Teaspoons of Truth. I also made egg muffins which have been great to reheat throughout the week for breakfasts. I’ll definitely be doing this again next week.
