Happy Friday everyone!
I wanted to share with you my plans for the next few months. I won’t officially start training for NYC until July 3rd. Until then, I’ll be in base building mode. My goal is to get to marathon training with a nice base mileage of ~25 miles per week built up, as well as some more strength and flexibility. I’d like to start the training cycle ready to tackle speed work, something I haven’t really been able to do a ton of in the past.
This will not be a half for time, but I’d like to use it to practice race day strategy. I also do better with my training when I have something to work towards, so having this race on the calendar is ideal! This year, I’d love to feel like I “conquered” the course and the hot conditions. I’ll be running long that weekend anyways…why not get a shiny medal, right?!
Starting next week, I’ll be recapping my training for this race as I build my base. I’m also taking this time to try out some new classes and increase my barre classes. I’ll also be looking for some new shoes, since Pearl Izumi has discontinued their running shoes.
